Rachel Smith, MPH

Rachel is a third-year PhD student in Health Services Research dedicated to conducting policy-relevant research that strengthens the U.S. behavioral health service system and advances population mental health. They hold an MPH in Health Policy from the Gillings School of Global Public Health at UNC Chapel Hill. In addition, they have completed internships with SAMHSA, the Congressional Budget Office, and the National Institute of Mental Health to learn how federal agencies organize, fund, and govern mental health efforts. Rachel’s research interests include supply-side drivers of mental health care access and quality, economic impacts of mental health treatment, and identifying the active ingredients of behavioral health interventions and policies.
